Can you run in skele toes
According to the label, this ' Bay Runner ' model is made for any terrain, and so far, I find that to be true. The Fila Skele-Toes have minimal tread but great traction because of the toes getting involved. They're great for picking one's way through rocky sections of trails that are common and sometimes troublesome on Mt. The Skele-Toes Bay Runner make this aspect of trail running fun for me, like a dance.
Rock protection is excellent, as the Skele-Toes Bay Runner , though light and thin, have a tough sole. The company's first attempt at a more natural running shoe.
Do they actually perform, or are they just trying to ride the barefoot bandwagon? Wannabe minimalist runners. They're like barefoot training wheels. The toes are separated, and the upper is thin, but the soles are thick and padded. Very light and definitely easier to run on your mid-to-forefoot than traditional runners.
Way too much foam to be considered "minimal" or "barefoot," though. The lightness and the shock-cord lacing system is terrific. As with many of the new running or workout shoes, the days of tying your laces is over. To get a nice snug fit, all you have to do is pull the bungee cord-like lacing, secure the tie holder, and you are ready to go. Personally, the Skele-lites fit my feet very well…. There is little doubt in my mind that they will last the miles the average running shoe does before they begin to breakdown.
The upper portion of the shoe is made of a form fitting nylon mesh that fits like a glove. The Skele series has a multitude of variation in the collection. The Voltage and Amp are the most substantial of the lot while the others have less sole and are designed much more like the FiveFingers running shoes. They are comfortable, form-fitted, lightweight, and easy to run in. I have found that running with the Vibram Five fingers is actually hazardous if you are doing something such as recreaction hiking.
My favorite feature of these sneakers has to be the bungee lacing system. Just squeeze the plastic button at the top, pull, and the shoe is loosened in one second. The attached tongue makes it easy to slip your foot in. Unlike Vibram Fivefingers , this shoe has only four compartments for your digits — your two smallest toes fit into one.
Fila calls this EZ slide, although it still took me a few minutes on each shoe to get my toes in the right holes. You'll save time though with the bungee laces since you just squeeze to tighten, and it creates a nice snug fit in no time.
I love the plastic "lacehook" attached to the top of the shoe to keep the laces secure. Aside from the articulated toes, these sneakers are like typical lightweight running shoes since they have a thick, hard, and cushioned sole, which is great if you're used to using a regular running sneaker. But since the toes are separated, it brings your awareness to the front of your foot, which actually changes your running form.
