Why does tadd from sytycd wear a ring
Here I go with my thoughts, live and feel free to put yours in the comments. We love the discussion. Read more.. D8Tadd or D8Ryan. Most of them today are just thanking people for their support. If you have a Twitter or a FB, go on over and wish him a happy belated birthday!! Check out our interviews with Top 20! Sorry for the delay but due to the bad storms that came through last night took out our internet connection and was still out this morning before I went to work.
The beginning of the show is always one of my favorite parts, every one of the contestants probably dreams of that moment. We also learn that Mitchell is injured and was advised not to dance. I do wish they explained his injury a little bit more, and he was visibly upset that he was unable to perform. We also had our first guest judge, Megan Mullaly from Will and Grace. Personally I love her and I thought she did a great job.
It may not be my favorite of the night but magic did just happen. Both are equally great dancers and I look forward to seeing them grow together this season. Like Cat said beautiful pieces of art.
A great partnership and could be one to watch. This looks like it will be a great partnership. I can understand the disconnect, but I think it was the character that took away from some of the emotion. I agree with Nigel, Jess is a performer and any partner will have to step of their performance.
Reason number one you should wear dangle ear rings win you dance they fly off. I think Megan got their personalities right. Great job by the two of them, sure the technique might not have been perfect but for the first week and to keep the energy up the entire way through is impressive. I sense a woo off between Robert and Mary. Iveta and Nick Quickstep-Jason Gilkenson Storm warning so no sound for half of it but it looks like Nick survived the ballroom boot camp.
Judging from the judges reaction this quickstep was not the dance of death. Iveta is the pro here and Nick just proved a tap dancer can do other things. I wish Mitchell was able to dance I think he would have danced it as well as Caitlynn. Even though he is in danger I think she should be safe. Also it was good to see Robert dance again. Loved the dance and thought they both danced it well. Interesting the interpretations of the story of the dance, glad they let Ryan explain her interpretation.
I agree with the judges Tadd did and great job for being out of his element. I love Jordan but there were times it looked like she was thinking too much. I agree with Nigel will be interesting if the viewers will go with fun or technique.
These two have room to grow if we let them. The first week is always the hardest to judge for me at least. I want to give the dancers a fair shot in the beginning. Mitchell we know is automatically in the bottom so I really hope he brings it if he is cleared to dance.
The only other guy that I think might be in the bottom is Chris. As for the girls I have no clue glad the judges will be making the call on who goes home. Dance is one of my biggest passions. Tap is my favorite style of dance. Hi All!! First, apologies for how late this is getting posted.
Eons better than the past 2 seasons, and the background looks a bit like the old stage! It features a hip hop dancer Miles and a ballerina Allie who actually both ended up in the top 4. They both kept up with the steps really well and seemed to enjoy themselves, but I felt like something was missing. Sasha and Alexander: I kind of disagreed with the judges on this one, I enjoyed it.
Cat emerges looking perfectly gorgeous except for one thing: that lipstick. Come on Cat, your lipstick clashes with your whole outfit. How adorable would she have looked with some baby pink glossy lipstick?
Everything else about her look, including the chandelier earrings, skinny bracelet, and the slicked back hair, is perfect. She just has an easy going, lovely personality. This show is notorious for sending injured dancers home, serious or not.
My Thoughts: What in the world America?! Jasmine in the bottom? Are YOU crazy! Well since Curtis is injured my thoughts are that Curtis and Alexis will be the ones voted off.
As for the girls, Alexis is a no-brainer. There is no way Jasmine will go home and the judges love Mackenzie. Personally, I would have liked to see Nico dance. Just one of the perks of living in Los Angeles. King Thoughts : I love watching Alexis tap dance, and seriously her outfit is adorable. If I could pull that look off in everyday life, I would.
Jasmine created such cool and interesting shapes with her bodies. It just felt awkward and well, cringe worthy on them. Especially when Tucker took off his shirt. Jenna worked it, but Tucker should have been in jeans or something. Nigel hits it on the nose calling Jenna to sweet and Tucker too stiff.
Big Sean Rating: C. It was so emotional and Alexis was really attacking it. I mean she really looked like she was running in place. There was a lot to love about this intense routine. I loved how Sonya book ended the piece just like it started. I loved the lift where he twisted her around and she had her neck and head stretched back, it was just beautiful. Like I feel like other dancers would. Nico was definitely stronger his movements showed just a wide range of emotions. It was all about the small little details and the emotion they put into everything.
I thought Hayley did a good job with Leonardo. He was so supportive as a partner and those lifts were seamless and looked super easy. She immersed fully into character even though at times I caught her looking down at the floor or at her feet. I just wished we saw a little bit more personality from her. Unfortunately a lot of the dance moves and lifts were ruined by weird camera angles. She needed to engage the audience more in the routine.
The judges, of course, think she nailed it. Mackenzie and Paul This routine was sexy! Sonya, what was on your brain when you were choreographing this Jazz routine? I thought it started out super strong. However as the dance went on, I found myself getting distracted by the fact that Paul and Mackenzie are very similar in size. In fact, she may be a bit bigger than him. But overall, he did a really great job especially considering he comes from Latin ballroom. He got the intensity right; he just needs to work on the lifts.
They loved his power and intensity. Jasmine and Aaron I thought the concept of the apple was going to be a bit dangerous and a bit distracting, but I actually think it added more to the routine. I genuinely wanted to know what was going to happen. It made me invest in the story. Was Jasmine going to get it? Was Aaron going to take it from her? This piece had a lot of stuff going for it. I thought the dancing was fluid and beautiful, though there were a few shaky parts.
And I love the gentle and humility these two dancers showcase every day. There was nothing W. However, when I vote for him and Jasmine I will vote because I like them, not because of what they did in this routine.
The judges love them as a couple, but never specifically said anything about the dance. I love that these dancers get all these routines that bring out the personality in them. I think she laid it on a little too thick in this routine, but I also felt like she did it because she was overcompensating for the fact that she fell.
In her defense there was both water and a towel on the floor, so there. Fik-shun sold it more, but Amy did her best under the circumstances. It was a cute routine, but not their best. It should have been sexier instead of cute. Someone remind me? No clue. That dress looks so gorgeous on Malece and that lack of shirt looks fantastic on Alan. Alan looked totally at ease, just having fun and excelling in it the entire way. Malece looked more timid, and afraid to let go.
I could feel how afraid she was. In the beginning it looked like she was having fun and enjoying herself, but as more and more lifts started happening I felt how timid she was. That being said this routine looked so difficult and nonstop. The judges actually praise Malece because the routine was so difficult but just give so so reviews for Alan, maybe he just sold it more for me in performance than? It was smooth and slick and reminding me a bit of Grease. Using the pool table and sticks were great props and allowed the dancers to do really cool things.
Stand outs for me were Nico, Hayley, and of course Spencer, standing in for Curtis. Spencer is just incredible to watch. Next to him, Nico held up really well. I think the judges just want to send Nico home. The guys were really sexy I just must have a thing for cut off T-shirts but I felt like the girls could have stepped it up a bit more. Overall, this was probably my favorite routine of the night.
It all felt heavy handed, and also frankly a weird, dramatic way of ending the show. That being said, I thought Amy and Tucker were total stand outs. They danced with such emotion and vulnerability in this piece. The judges praise it, but Mary thought though Fik-Shun was a weak link he was behind a lot I noticed , he made up for it in passion and emotion.
Nigel, also ruined it all going into a rant about bullying and how it still exists today. Bullying will always exist. People will always find a reason to hate someone, good or bad. So instead of ordering my preference of routines, I will order my preference of the performers.
Some of it has to do with dance ability, a lot of it has to do with personality and likeability, some of it has to do with adapting to styles…. Eliminations: Nigel does it quickly. It is Alexis and Curtis who are going home. Nico seems more upset about it than anything, of all the guys to cry I was sure it would be Curtis. I feel like it would be really fun for the both of us and by the both of us I mean really fun for me. I guess we will just have to see!
Until next week. PS: Nigel can Anna be a full time judge? Thanks for hanging in there with me folks! Kenny Ortega and Katie Holmes are the guest judges tonight. Cat looks adorable. Her hair is cute, her dress is cute and age appropriate. I wonder if this was a last minute addition? Anyway, I hope we get to see a glimpse of adorable Suri! The music has a fast beat, but they are doing everything in half-time it seems.
I think this routine was a little lackluster. It lacked passion and energy and everything Doriana said she was striving for. I mean, compare that performance to this… Grade: C Kenny: Fun, electric, sizzling, great.
Katie : They were energetic. She believed the story. What exactly was the story? Mary: She thought the lifts were a struggle and she went in and out of the style.
Nigel: He sensed they were uncomfortable. Marko has a lot of strength. He wants to see them do better. This is gonna be good. This piece is totally Sonya and Mark was the right guy to dance with her. Their bodies twisted and turn and writhed. But for the most part it was a great routine.
I felt like it was building to a big WOW moment that never came, but I liked it. They deserved to be mentioned. She was strong and powerful. Mary: Sasha looks mature and strong.
Nigel: She fighting to the end. Oh my little, Josh! Performance: I really like this piece. It was nothing fancy. It did have any crazy jumps of lifts to distract you. It was strictly about choreography. Intricte, hard, crazy crazy choreography. The biggest challenge, being in sync with each other. I think for the most part they pulled it off. Tadd has swag. He has swag and personality, but Josh out danced him.
He just hit it a little harder, he went down a little lower, or jumped a little higher. Josh took it to the next level. Cool parts: Then sliding back on their knees, the ice skating move they did while staying in one spot. Overall, good work Tadd, but your all-star got the best of you. Nigel : He got down and dirty on his knees. Kenny: Perfect pairing. They played off of each other well. He loved the choreography. Performance : Melanie has always been a great actress. That look at the end she gives Robert when she knows she has to walk away from him is heartbreaking.
Also, Stacey Tookey has great attention to detail with her routines. Especially the ones that have a specific story. Then nearing the end, when they were hugging as he brought her down from a lift. Again she wrapped her legs around one of this as sle slid down. But it was pretty darn good. Loved the assisted lift.
He would push himself to the front of the line to work with Melanie. Mary: She has the captivating capability to draw people in I agree! Everything she does, she does with class. Katie: Melanie blew her away. Every movement she makes, makes sense. But Sasha wants something not on the menu. Performance: I think Spencer has been hot and cold this season, but this routine was one of his better ones.
It was quirky and fun and man, Marko did a lot of leaping and flipping and sliding. Again, I felt like something was a bit off. I saw a bit more personality for Marko than I did from Sasha. Maybe it was chemistry they were lacking. Grade: B- Kenny: Sasha throws her entirety into everything dhe does.
He barely recognized Marko. He was great. Marko is incredible. She loved when he jumped up Hmm…I want to say something mean here. Mary: She enjoyed it every minute of it. Sasha was saucy. Marko had personality. He wanted to see more character. It was missing something.
Are the dancers tired? Even Sasha, who does everything well was just okay. I mean it could have been Salsa or something…And it looked like Tadd was struggling a lot, and that Sasha was thinking a lot. Mary: They both had a lot of big problems, hand connections moves. Sasha struggled a little less than Tadd. They both struggled. Kenny : America knows what they can do. Let it go. Turn around and come back strong!
Good advice Kenny! She wants this routine to be both emotionally and physically challenging. Performance: Lauren dances with every piece of her body. From the tippy tip of her finger tips, she uses everything to accentuate each piece. I thought this piece was great. The best of the night, so far. And Marko dances with great emotion. I could tell what he was feeling without even seeing his face. Great parts: Lauren stopping midway through doing the splits, when Marko lifts her three times in a row around and around and a round.
When Lauren grabs his leg and twirls it around in a circle. Really good stuff. Grade: A- Mary: Marko has honest communication in the dance.
She can feel who he is and his feelings are real. He is real. He does what he does brilliantly. Kenny: Gorgeous choreography. Marko and Lauren were made for each other. He was swept away from Marko. Katie: She loved the little moments, and he created such stunning pictures. He wants it to be naughty and dysfunctional.
Performance: Okay, see! This routine had what most of the other routines were missing passion and chemistry. Tadd and Melanie work so great together, this routine brought out the best in them I think.
There were a ton of great moments throughout the routine, and their characters were so strong. Plus, Melanie taking off his shirt? This is a performance to rewind. Speaking of which…. Grade: A- Nigel: That routine brought the night to life. Melanie had a character before the dance even started.
Tadd redeemed himself, be brought character and gymnastics. Kenny: Before Melanie started Kenny was already gripped to the stage.
Melanie brings theater to everything she does. Personalities worked beautiful, great chemistry. Katie: Breath of fresh air.
It was fun and different and new. Mary: Tadd brought sexy back. He was hitting it. It was strong and dynamic. Routine 9 Who : Melanie and Sasha Dancing Style: Contemporary Choreographer : Stacey Tookey Rehearsal: Concept — about a pair of suppressed housewives longing to find out what life is like outside of the home. They come together to break free. Performance: Seeing these two girls dance this style, especially when they let each other take a turn in the spotlight, makes it really easy to compare the two.
Where as Melanie dances with more control and technique and the emotion is mostly in her face, Sasha dances with abandon and freedom with the emotion pulsating throughout her body. This routine engaged him. It was beautiful. Katie: She loves seeing them dance together. Mary: She adores both of them. They have great musicality. Gorgeous movement. Nigel: Both girls would grace any dance company. Performance: Stepping is so underrated. You have too much of a baby face to be hardcore. Tadd was a bit better than Marko, in my opinion, but I also wish we could have heard the beats they were making with their hands and feet.
Stepping works much better on a larger scale. The End. Mary: Solid gold. She loved the concept. She thought it was cute. Nigel: Stepping works better with a huge group.
Kenny: He congratulates them all and wishes them good luck. They played a clip beforehand where Melanie was talking about her Dad who passed away long ago and I could feel that was a bit part of her solo. She was already crying even before the music started. As for her dancing, it was controlled and beautiful and breathtaking. Fun Fact: She was closest with Ricky throughout the competition. I feel like I say it every time but his personality is infectious.
I love how he was swimming on his back across the floor, and I love, love the stumble fake out at the end. I love how Sasha just melts into the stage, and really I could watch her dance forever. I hope she makes it on the show next year! Loved Nigel taking note of the camaraderie between the dancers. Apparently Sasha and Melanie hugged each other and wished each other luck before they performed their routine. Katie looks a lot younger with her long hair. Melanie is going to win. Does anyone really think anything different?
What performances do you hope they dance in the finale? The final four get announced today. I say NONE. The only thing wrong with her look tonight is that big flower by her neck. Everything else, hairstyle and all is working.
Is that really necessary? She thought it was cute. Nigel: Stepping works better with a huge group. Kenny: He congratulates them all and wishes them good luck. They played a clip beforehand where Melanie was talking about her Dad who passed away long ago and I could feel that was a bit part of her solo. She was already crying even before the music started. I thought the choice was all up to America, but apparently the judges still have a say…let see what America and the Judges decide…. Group Performance. It was definitely very Broadway and Jess got a lot of screen time. Unfortunately for Cat, her hairstyle looks weird. Something about her face seems strange, but that skirt is adorable. Cat tells Neil she had a crush on him, or rather Doogie Howser. Aww, Cat is so cute. Based on these choices, my prediction is that Mitchell and Clarice will be going home.
I will be sad to see Mitchell go. I really like Clarice, but I never felt connected to her. Fedde Le Grand Performance: I wished she danced like this yesterday, before it was too late because it was high energy, her legs just stretched for days! I enjoyed this performance and those pirouettes were crazy fast. Grade: 8. Why did she waste those last few seconds just emoting on the floor? Who was that guy they cut too looking very stern in the audience with his arms crossed after she danced?
So many questions! You used that stage to rumble and tumble and twist and turn. I liked it and so did everyone else. Mitchell and Clarice are indeed the ones sent home, and I think they knew it. The camera cuts to the dancers who have already abandoned their pit and are just waiting to comfort the two. Jess is up front and center devastated.
Mitchell, I will miss you. I just thought he had a happy-go-lucky personality that really brought a light to the show. But it was his time, unfortunately…. Well kids, we have our final 8! Can you live with these two going home? Speaking of which, which All-Star are you most looking forward to? Being back in the SYTYCD studio with the judges and choreographers and audience is like getting together with old friends.
This episode was jam packed announcing the TOP 20 and giving us 9 performances. The Top I think Melanie and Rickey definitely stood out, even if production went too heavy with the fog machine. I really like those guys. He was just so happy. I loved the Urkel outfit chosen for him.
Chris also showed a lot of skill. I loved it when he did the reverse back flip. I guess it would be called a front flip? Also, the tutting section yes I got that word from ABDC, hopefully I used it correctly in the middle of their performance was pretty cool. I really want to dislike her, but she was incredible. And I think it helped that Pasha from Season 3 was her partner. Oh Pasha! Marko sure got a work out lifting all those girls and pushing and pulling him. And that leap in the beginning took a lot of precision.
However, none of the girls really stood out. His routine with Jess is really entertaining. I can see what Nigel means when he says Jess has a bit of arrogance in him, but the routine is so cute. Dueling street performers. I think Nick wins this one though with overall skill and personality. The routine is good as far as I can tell, but I think there are too many people on stage to really focus on the talent.
Also, the song is really awesome, I want to download it. Halfway through the routine, half of the guys do a cool move where they spin in the hair, feet parallel to the floor.
Whereas the boys routine felt aggressive and a little all over the place — not necessarily in a bad way, the Top 10 girls routine was so clean! The movements were clean and precise and weird and interesting. The final performance of the Top 20, was a nice closer to the night.
